Nicke Adebowale

I lost my dad suddenly on 1 February 2021 to Covid, after the chaotic “Christmas no Christmas”  debacle of 2020. We diligently stuck to the rules so didn’t get to spend that last Christmas together as I was bubbled with my brother.

I joined as a member almost immediately after his death and more recently became a non-executive director as I wanted to play a more active role in the organisation, and I knew my activist minded dad would approve.

My professional background is a little mixed. I began my career in operations and administration primarily in the media industry before moving into an equality, diversity, and inclusion role within the not-for-profit sector. Almost a decade ago I qualified as a person-centred counsellor and practised in bereavement, and until the pandemic balanced both.

Like so many I do this for my dad and everyone we have lost and the injustice in those losses.
